Latch
Camera Control can be reassigned to another app, and it fires from the lock screen without unlocking first. That makes it the fastest physical shortcut on the phone. This puts the house behind it.
- Targets
- Three, from a sixty-line project file: app, capture extension, widget
- Launch
- A lock-screen extension hands off to the app behind Face ID
- Backend
- A 49-line client. Read states, call services. That is the protocol.
How the launch works
A press wakes a lock-screen capture extension, a separate process that cannot reach the network, shared storage or the app's own settings. It shows a holding screen and hands off once you are past Face ID.
It has to hold a camera session open
The system terminates a Camera Control launch that is not running a real capture session. So the app opens the rear camera, takes every frame, throws all of them away, and shows no preview.
The cost is that the green camera indicator stays lit the whole time the panel is open.
Release pipeline
It signs its own tokens and creates identifiers and provisioning profiles over Apple's API. One step refuses to be automated: creating the app record, which has to be done by hand in a browser.
